About the Event
Twenty five year old Israeli violinist ASI MATATHIAS is already recognized as a major talent on the international classical scene. His debut with the Israeli Philharmonic under the Baton of Maestro Zubin Mehta, as a fourteen year old, was followed by numerous collaborations with orchestras in Europe and the U.S. As a recitalist of great sensitivity, Mathatias teamed up with renowned artists, among them Yefim Bronfman, Nobuko Imai and Christian Altenburger in chamber-music performances and at international festivals.
Growing up in Israel, Mathatias studied violin since age six with Chaim Taub and moved, the youngest student of his year, to Vienna’s famed Universität für Musik and Darstellende Kunst. He then continued his studies with Aaron Rosand.
Through a scholarship from AICF (America-Israel Cultural Foundation) Matathias was able to follow his calling to New York's Manhattan School of Music, where he studied under Pinchas Zukerman, one of the legendary violinists of our time .
Pianist DOMINIC CHELI studied with Mr. Andre-Michael Schub and Ms. Sylvia Rosenberg at the Manhattan School of Music, graduating this summer with the Harold Bauer Award of outstanding accomplishments and promise. He currently continues to pursue his graduate degree in Piano Performance at Yale University. Looking back on a successful year as first prize winner of the 2014 Artist Presentation Society Auditions in his native St. Louis and becoming a semi-finalist in the 2014 Gina Bachauer International Piano competition, Cheli is off to a promising journey as an American concert pianist to watch out for.
